The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

On this month, eleven years ago (August 25, 1998) The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was dropped. To me this is one of the BEST hip hop/R&B albums ever. Lauryn said some of the most honest and realist things on this album; some of which I implement in my life.
I dont know what Lauryn is up to these days, but I hope shes well and blesses us with another classic soon.

Rihanna covers Italian Vogue

Rihanna covers the September issue of Vogue Italia. The pic is dope but I wanna see the rest of the spread to get an idea of what they were going for though.

Mary J. Blige feat. Drake - The One

This video goes hard, the beat is sick, Drake's verse is hot. Its a very different look for Mary, but I like it.

Fab on Chelsea Lately

new MC track

Yesterday Mariah Carey released "I wanna know what love is" which is a remake of the popular Foreigner song. The formula is typical Mariah - soft/whisper voice in the beginning, belting and random high notes at the end. I was hoping that she would really give me some good vocals, but I was left wanting more. I still prefer the original version, to me it sounds like she's holding back - or maybe she cant do it anymore? IMO this should have been left as an album cut.

Snow Leopard

This pic is dope.

Relationship Rant

why do people try to make themselves your priority? maybe if you didn't try so hard you'd be more important to me. your eagerness is making me suspect.
Everyone is expendable to me. I try not to make anyone too much of a dominant figure in my life... other than my family.
Relationships are extra curricular.. you DO NOT need to be in a relationship to survive. which is why i don't understand why people go so hard for them... especially the unhealthy ones. I do not mind being alone, so if I see that being with someone is doing more harm than help, or putting me through unnecessary stress... I dead it.

I think we as people get so caught up in the fairytale life that when reality hits us, we don't to see it for what it really is, and try to make things work... and that's where the problems start.

I think this pic is hot

The 8th wonder of the world.

I have to admit....

I have to admit sometimes I have a hard time letting go - even when I know something is bad for me. At times I get really dependent on places, things, and people and I forget that I do not need any of that to function. There have been many times where I have COMPLETELY inconvenienced myself just so i can be with certain people, or live in a moment -- and when I get burned I look back at it all like "why did i do that? what was it all for?"

I find myself hopping from one "crutch" to another to fill voids and insecurities within myself. it wasn't until I got tired of the temporary fixes that I really looked at myself, and addressed the issue.
Checking myself was probably the hardest part because I had to admit to myself that I had a real problem... which no one wants to hear. Fixing is sometimes the easy the part lol.

But I embrace the good things in my life, and the bad because without it I would not be who I am today. (as cliche as it sounds)

Just Watch

Blackberry or iPhone?

As of lately theres been a lot of talk about which phone is better - the iPhone or the Blackberry.

I have a blackberry curve and was convinced that it was better than the iPhone. I also have an iTouch, which is similar to the iPhone and I figured I knew what I needed to know about the iPhone to make an educated decision as to which one was better.
However, yesterday I was playing around with my friends iPhone(shoutouts to Afferina) and it does EVERYTHING. They have alll kinds of applications and the screen is so beautifully illuminated and just good lol. Don't get me wrong, I still love my blackberry, but the iPhone just has something special about it.. making me reconsider....

The blackberry is still a cool phone. I like using it because it makes me feel like i'm handling important business even when i am sending a text message. I love the QWERTY keyboard, and the emailing, and the ease of copying and pasteing things... But I think when it comes down to it, the iPhone is where its at.
I guess ima blackberry sellout lol

Soho-ing not what it used to be..

I first got put on to Soho and its great shopping spots back in '06 and since then i've become a regular. However, I went there on friday to do sum shopping and I noticed that it just wasn't the same. It seems like every Tom, Dick, and Harry goes there now, not only to shop but to just "hang out". It was raining and there were still ppl just standing around all dressed up like it was fashion show on the streets smh.

I feel like Soho/Noho has become the mecca for a lot of new fashion, and ppl have OD'd on it and drained of its natural resources - so to speak. its just not the same. But I guess that happens with anything that was once "underground" and then gets popularized....
